For sale – ready for an Expedition Box
Would be perfect for a Total Composites box kit.
1987 Unimog U1300L
Former fire brigade ambulance (the non-military ambulances saw the lightest duty of all the Unimogs and are therefore the most desirable).
OM366A turbocharged engine
Continental 335/80 R20 MPT81 Tires
Some level of factory rebuild in 1998 (the information on this is very unclear, but it did go for a complete servicing and partial rebuild in 1998, which means it has some components only found in newer Unimogs
This Unimog was built to take a custom expedition camper. The subframe was built to accept up to a 13 foot camper.
Recent work completed –
CLAAS Overdrive installed- Allows comfortable cruising at 65mph
New Rotors and Break Pads
New Water Pump
New Belts and hoses
New Brake Lines
New hub wear rings and seals
New Transmission output shaft seals
Rebuilt Alternator and Voltage regulator
New fuel lines
Extensive Dynamat installation throughout Cab.
Spectrum Sludge Sound deadening compound sprayed on undercarriage and on firewall.
Heat and Sound Deadening compound applied to firewall (this helped the cabin temp immensely
Parts used –
From Atkinson Vos in UK
225 Liter Extended Fuel tank
Extended Aluminum Battery box
Deluxe Sound Deadening Kit
From Atlas 4×4 in Germany
Subframe Kit – made out of s355 frame steel (this is a really awesome German subframe that allows you to mount a camper directly to it. It is very lightweight, only 3-400lbs, much lighter than the standard Unimog bed)
Custom Bumper – with new high intensity LED lights (A massive improvement in light output from the standard lights). This is a very costly, but necessary upgrade).
Custom Water tank – that fits in between the subframe rails, neoprene coated for low temps
Auberins EGT and Water temp guage – digital with alarm.
Custom Seat Brackets and new seats from a 2013 sprinter
Mogauspuff Stainless Cowl Muffler from Germany – this helped with engine noise as well as allowing the move of the fuel tank to drivers side, making room for a camper door on the passenger side.
A basic list of upgrades and prices. There is significantly more into the Unimog than this.
CLAAS Overdrive $ 9,500
Bumper and LED Headlights $ 2,000
Subframe $ 5,000
Cab lifter $ 2,500
Fuel tank $ 1,000
Muffler $ 1,500
Horsepower upgrade $ 1,500
Sound deadening $ 2,000
In addition to this list, there are countless hours of labor, many smaller parts, and a new set of tires.
